PRESIDENT'S COCKPIT REPORT - SUMMER 2010

Members,

As many of you know we now have four flying stations at the North field, with the understanding among members that if a flying station is open you may fly. However, my own personal opinion is that if I saw two or three guys flying a particular style of flying that was diametrically opposed to my style of flying (Warbird and 3D as an example) I would let them finish before I flew.

Last Sunday I was at the field to introduce this new concept of flying stations and universal starting area for all aircraft to the membership. I plan on being at the field on most Sundays to help with this adjustment. I believe most members accepted these changes and were willing to abide by these new rules. However, some members were concerned that there was a genuine need for one at a time flying to perfect their routine in preparation for an upcoming competition.

Some individuals only have the weekend to accomplish this goal. I therefore, with the approval of the property owners, have established a second flying field, the South field which will be used only as a practice field. Only 2.4 GHz will be allowed at this field. All club rules, fueling regulations and general club procedures will be practiced at this field. A sign will be posted when this field is in operation. It will only be used when the main field is busy. If for some reason the main field is closed the practice field will be used as the club field with flying stations present. I have asked Lance Murphy, one of the original founders of our club with as strong a passion as me for the safeguard of these fields, to be in charge of the practice field. This field will operate on a one month trial basis and than evaluated by me to see if we will continue its operation. I hope this will satisfy the needs of all club members.

John Perez
President WRCFC
